FlightList was born out of a personal frustration faced by its founder, Hans Desjarlais, in September 2017. While traveling in the Netherlands, Hans struggled to find an efficient way to search for flights to Ukraine within a flexible date range. Existing platforms like Skyscanner and Google Flights required tedious date-by-date searches, which didn’t suit his flexible travel style. This sparked an idea: a platform that simplifies searching for flights, both one-way and round-trip, across a range of dates.
In early 2018, Hans, a web developer with over eight years of experience, dedicated 30 days to learning JavaScript and building a minimalist flight booking site. Using Kiwi.com’s open Flight Search API, he created a clean, user-friendly prototype designed for travelers who value flexibility and affordability. Launched on Product Hunt on February 13, 2018, FlightList quickly gained traction, reaching the top spot for the day and earning a place among the top 10 most upvoted travel products on the platform.
Today, FlightList serves travelers seeking affordable flights with a simple, ad-free interface. It’s designed to make travel planning easier for those who need flexibility in their one-way or round-trip bookings.
